Wow, now that I’m not in class I’m slacking on my Swahili.  While the HIV/AIDS tour was here a few weeks ago (a big reason for a lack of blogging) I was able to use it a fair amount.  The people were all very helpful as I stumbled along.  I have forgotten a lot about the different tenses that I learned but am overall having fun just trying to spit it out.

This week I’ll give you some vocabulary.

Relationship words:

Rafiki – friend

Mama – mom

Baba – dad

Dada – sister

Kaka – brother

(I hear you laughing, stop that!)

Shosho or nyanya (which is also tomato) – granny

Babu – grampa
