The title may give away where I’m going with this one but work with me here.

I am sure that you noticed that I have a new photo up top.  That is my friend Chris and I at my commissioning service back in Minnesota.  She is pointing to the Twin Cities and I’m pointing to Nairobi and we are holding hands to ‘bridge’ the gap.  We thought we were very clever.

That’s a symbol of what I’ll be doing while I’m here.  Bridging that gap from North America to Kenya.  It’s a big job and I’m sure that there will be blunders and confusions along the way, but I am so excited and so blessed to be able to do this work.  I couldn’t have dreamed of anything better.

So, wherever you are, know that I am reaching out to you to bridge that gap that is between us.

So many things come to mind with my corny sense of humor.  Like the old, was it AT&T?, commercial, ‘reach out and touch someone!’ (I know that some of you just sang that to yourself like I did.)

But the true need for bridging cannot be done by me.  The true need for bridging isn’t from North America to Kenya, but from our sinful selves to the heavenly, perfect Lord.  Jesus Christ is that bridge and I pray that each of you may find a way to reach out to him and learn how to run the distance from one place to other.
